Winter
Snowfall –
Blanket of silence and cold descending
On the world, destroying, preserving,
Beautiful and terrible.
In the darkness and drought
Of life and love that is Winter
We search for a flicker
Of Why in each other
Finding only that candle-flame of seeking
In each and every soul.
Telling stories of rebirth
And renewal,
Evoking the Spark of
That Which Could Be,
We find comfort in each others’
Words and Song.
When the world abandons us,
And as nature falls asleep,
We stumble along, clinging
To that tenuous golden cord
Strung from human spirit
To human spirit, and realize:
This is us. This is now.
This is the stuff of
Miracle and wonder –
A kind word, reaching out
Against all odds –
Connecting and reconnecting
We reclaim the heritage of
Humanity, tugging and reinforcing
That wondrous, powerful bond
Of word and deed, until
We are again rejoined by
Our Mother when
She awakens
Once again.
