An open letter to the angry viewers of ‘The Bachelor’

There are a lot of you folks out there. You know who you are. If you felt betrayed or appalled or disgusted or anything at all because of TV’s ‘The Bachelor’, then don’t hide it. You have every right to feel the way you do.
Don’t let the so-called “real” world get you down. Don’t let them feel like your emotions are worthless. I don’t know what you’re experiencing right now, because I never watched ‘The Bachelor’ (because I think it’s crappy, crappy television), but I can tell you this much: whatever you feel because of TV is valid. It doesn’t matter if the show was rigged or scripted or poorly produced. It could be total fiction, for all we care. The point is that there was a connection to the characters on screen, and the disappointment comes from the fact we know there were better choices to be made.
I absolutely hate reality TV, but I can totally sympathize because I really like fiction TV. I was terribly sad for like a whole week when they killed off my favorite character on “Lost” at the end of season 3. Fiction or reality, we watch a story and we get emotionally involved.
So keep blogging your blogs. Join the discussion forums. Flame the nay-sayers. Get closure however you need to. Stir the soil of pop culture, and re-bloom with every new season.
But don’t forget to go outside once in a while. Those groceries aren’t going to just magically appear in your refrigerator.
