Tip Your Waiter is hosting a recording session for our ongoing, collaborative project called Hatemail on the last Sunday of every month, and here’s what happening this time around:

The coffee has been made, Bil has arranged the cookies on a decorative platter, and I’m hurriedly editing the last of the hatemails that came in this week.

Kathryn Daniels is here, and has a special connection to hatemail. Kathryn recently broke her arm because people in Chicago don’t shovel their sidewalks, and trust me, Tip Your Waiter is going to get some good material out of her experiences! The recording session is going well when everyone has to stop themselves from laughing and giggling until the track has been cut, and then we all guffaw and applaud.

Kyra Morris just finished another reading we all had to try not to laugh through! She’s in Ajax Antigone, opening March 11 with The State Theatre of Chicago, and they’re doing a live webcast of it! You should see it live and see it online!

Chelsea Maureen Marcantel just did a recording… and I missed it because I was talking in the kitchen. I… I’m sure it was awesome. It was great, really!

Danielle is taking another shot at hers. It’s had time to process, it’s had time to sink in, and now it has time to record.

Last, but not least, Chris Delgado is recording. All that’s left at this point in the evening is hatemail written by women, so Chris is going to have to make some very interesting choices. It’s not just a piece for a woman, it’s a piece about a woman angry because a bouncer treats her like crap because she won’t sleep with him. Very interesting choices. Chris works with CircEsteem, which is a wonderful group you should check out!

Now everyone’s giggling because this hatemail, called “Dear Bitter Bouncer,” is really really effeminate, and Chris has an incredibly deep voice.

Matthew Chapman just did our last one! He got the last one, and he and Bil made it work — the piece was a little strange, and unclear, but they took it from a relaxed, cigarette or hookah smoking dude talking about work. Matt’s blog can be found at mchapm.blogspot.com. Bil says you should read it.
